    Product Description

    The Mighty Armory Flare and Expander Reloading Die will flare and expand rifle brass cases for all 30 caliber, including .300 Blackout, .308 Win and .30-06 Springfield.

    The flare shaft offers a silky smooth entry and exit from your case and will not stick the case.

    The flare shaft flares the inside of the case mouth to facilitate easy bullet seating, and precisely expands the inside diameter of the case to your needs, -.003 below bullet diameter.

    The Flare Expander die is precision machined from high-grade tool steel with perfect vertical alignment. Heat treated to over 60 Rockwell hardness; will outlast all others. The designs are tool-free, ultra tough and meet the demands of lever presses and autodrive presses around the world.

    The Mighty Armory Flare Expander Die is an independent station die that fits any press. A locknut is included with each die to ensure you can remove the die and reinstall without having to reset it. 

    Also included is a nylon nut, is optional depending on your press.

    How or why should I flare a rifle brass case neck?

    Flaring is only necessary when you're using square-back bullets or a bullet dropper. The bullet will sit straight inside the flare and be positioned to be seated. Following a flare, a crimp will be necessary.

    If loading a taper back or boat-tail bullet, then generally when hand setting or bullet dropping, the back-end angle of the bullet will sit up straight in a non-flared case and will allow indexing to the seating station. No crimp is required. Tension is set via the die and mandrel expander.

    Step 1: Turn the flare die with bushing into the tool head exposing the die about 1/2 inch below.

    Step 2: With the die bushing in place, turn the flare shaft all the way up. Lower the die over the case with no contact made with the die.

    Step 3: Turn the flare shaft down until you start to feel contact against the neck of the case.

    Step 4: Raise the ram and turn the die down until you feel the pressure of the flare shaft against the case.

    Step 5: Flare should be .005 under bullet diameter. If you want more flare, raise the ram and continue to turn the die down. Inside diameter measurements should be taken.

    Step 6: Lock the die into place.
